Details:
With my home built magnetometer running 24/7 I was able to capture pretty much every rumble within the geomagnetic environment through 2017. Here is a summary of all 193801 data points collected over this period in relation to solar activity (SDO/AIA inset images). Mostly the geomagnetic events can be traced back to the presence of coronal holes, with a few CMEs in the mix. It shows that even with the declining solar cycle there are still lots of opportunities for aurora spotting. No sunspots required!
