This is a picture of the a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch as seen from approximately 125 miles south of Vandenburg AFB in California. The Falcon 9 was carrying 10 Iridium 4 satellites for deployment along the African east coast. It's very rare to see rocket launches from where we took this picture, but occasionally, the timing and conditions were right for this particular launch. You can see the 1st and 2nd stages along with a crescent moon above.
