Details:
No less than eight types of ice halos were observed simultaneously, at the best display over Israel since 2007.
These included the 22°, upper tangent, suncave parry, circumzenithal, supralateral (though partial), sundogs, parhelic circle (large but incomplete) and 120° parhelia (marked with an arrow).
The display lasted for more than 10 minutes, although some of the halos had appeared before and after that peak part – enough to both taking pictures and just enjoying the view.
The whole event took place at 13:00-14:00 local time; with sun elevation ranging from 30° to 27° at peak time.
There were also contrails, and even a small flock of shockwaves was spotted crossing the CZA.
What a day to remember!
