Details:
An overcast night had made viewing auroras difficult. Fleeting glimpses through breaks in weather were the norm for the night. Our group with Lights Over Lapland had just packed up for the night and were headed back to the hotel when the skies opened up to a great display. I took these shots with a Nikon D800 and 14-24mm with a 2 sec exposure. It as amusing seeing some of our group instinctively reaching for their mobiles rather than their DSLR's but then I guess that's the age we live in.
