Details:
These are photos of the Mercury-Antares conjunction taken with a Sony DSC-HX300 camera at 19:45 (UTC-2h) on Nov. 12, 2017. Being 19.5° away from the Sun, the pair was easily visible to the naked eye as it was about to set behind the 1.0km-high Tijuca Peak half an hour after sunset. Mercury (m=-0.3) was then 3.5 times brighter than Antares (m=1.06) and they were only 2.2° apart. Much dimmer Sigma Scorpii (m=2.9) is also seen in some photos.
