Details:
At 11 pm on 26 October, after another day in which the temperature rose to 40 degrees centigrade, the waxing almost first quarter moon, colored red by heat and smoke haze, was photographed setting into a thick layer above Chikanga township. A few minutes later it had completely disappeared from view. Just as the Sun changes color when setting into haze (last picture taken a few hours earlier), so does the Moon. The photographs were taken with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera in night and sunset scene modes.
