Details:
The shower peak occures this weekend and it coincides with a complete cloudcover for 3 days, so I spent most nights outside this week to capture some of the Orionids. Many faint ones were observed in the first part of the week when sky was clear then some thin clouds or shallow fog came and I could only see the brighter ones. As the weeend came closer and closer I saw more Orionids each night (and of course some other meteors too). The pic was taken in the predawn hours today when the first (still thin) clouds of the incoming front arrived, so the stars became hazy and got a nice aureole. This Orionid was -3 mag. bright and as it was close to the radiant it represents the shower pretty well. The more faint Orionids tended to be simply green but the bright ones always had this pinkish hue at their end. I wish good luck to all observers who have a chance to see the shower peak!
