Details:
Space X corporation launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg AFB this morning at 5:48 PDT with a payload of 10 Iridium satellites.
The payload was placed in orbit and Space X was able to recover the booster rocket by landing it on a barge south of Vandenberg in the Pacific Ocean.
Viewing the launch was difficult due to a heavy marine and cloud cover. However, once the rocket ignited the sky was illuminated and I was able to capture part of the rocket's flight through a small opening in the clouds.
The rumble of the rocket was heard for miles arounnd Goleta and Santa Barbara, California with many people thinking an earthquake was in progress.
More Iridium launches are scheduled to update the satellite system currently orbiting the earth.
