The Sep. 27, 2017, display for southwest Minnesota began with a faint, diffuse glow along the horizon. About 930pm CDT, the glow elevated to from a strong arc, then a double arc, then transitioned to produce an active rayed band. Occasional pulses of lights crossed the band, moving west to east. In the northwest, one ray seemed to generate a sequence of discrete “fence posts” across the sky, just north of the zenith, and extending about 25 degrees toward the east. Colors: green, yellow, and red. Camera used: Olympus E-500 with Rokinon 14mm F2.8 lens. Exposure time: 20-25 seconds. Aperture: 2.8 ISO: 1250 Date and time taken: Wed., Sep. 27, 2017. Between 9:00pm and (1:00am of 9-28-17)
