Details:
Ive been rapidly checking off my astrophysical phenomenon bucket list this year. Saw totality from just east of the Congaree River near St.Matthews SC and now a rare mid latitude aurora in Maryland! Posted a pic earlier from 9/7, found another thats even better, used higher ISO levels Sony Nex 5n with 16mm f2.8 pancake lens. It was around 9:30 flux levels were high, pic was taken on the edge of a cliff from the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, about 25 miles southeast of Washington DC. Tom Clancy readers will probably have an idea/image of the location. As a matter of fact the location was very close to the late author's property.
The eclipse pic was taken by my father Allen Barth with a Nikon D5600 with a 500mm Sigma lens. Him and I did a father/son eclipse adventure. I brought all my cam stuff down from Maryland only to get there and find out I left my batteries at home! No they were AA's! Duhhhh! Anyway, it was nice to just watch and not worry about cam settings. My father did get some incredible pics though, Too many good ones to choose from.
