Details:
The high energy X-9.3 solar flare that occurred at approx. 12:00 today not only caused shortwave radio blackouts, as reported on Spaceweather.com, it also caused measureable disturbances within Earth's geomagnetic environment, as recorded on my magnetometer here in the UK. Although the effects are small, there is a definite step in the horizontal declination data.
