Details:
This panoramic image was obtained from Alpine, a small town right on the border of Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming, USA). It shows the Milky Way arching and intense green airglow with the vanishing point on Bradley Mountain. At times the airglow became so intense that for the first time in my life I could distinguish it with the naked eye like a faint, colorless phosphorescent cloud, similar to a weak aurora. To get the picture I made six vertical shots with a fisheye lens and a modified Sony A7S camera. This image is part of the Shelios 2017 expedition (www.shelios.com), designed to observe and relay live the total solar eclipse of last August 21 (www.sky-live.tv) funded by the European project Stars4All : //stars4all.eu).
