My wife and I took a 475 mile trip to Kuttawa, Kentucky for the eclipse. Wow, was it worth it! The hospitality was as good as the eclipse, absolutely fantastic! About ten minutes before totality the real show began! Between the color of the ambient light and lack of infrared, it was most enjoyable (temps were in the 90's) and eerie! As totality fell, the collective ohs and ahs were clearly audible even though we were 100 yards from anyone! The sight and feel of the air was indeed, unique and unusual! Truly, something everyone should experience if at all possible! I managed to get some pretty decent shots in despite the mesmerizing view! All telephoto shots are through a Canon T4i at ISO 100, Canon 300mm F4L with 1.4 teleconverter at F11, piggybacked on my Celestron CGEM mount. The first is a composite of 6 different corona shots varying in exposure from 1/200 to 2.5 seconds. Note: Mars is to the left of the sun, Mercury to the right! The second photo is my best single corona shot at 1.3 seconds. The third is my best solar prominence shot. Last, but not least, is a wide angle shot through a Canon T2i, with a Rokinon 14mm at f5.6, ISO 100, 1/4 of a second for the diamond ring effect! I drove all that way and forgot my counter balance weights for the mount! A HUGE THANK YOU to our campground manager, Matt Daniel, who hooked me up with some free weights for rigging! All in all, by far the best astronomical experience we have ever had!

Thank you for the compliment! Im a little Adobe illiterate, but trying to learn, fast! This was the original raw stack with no correction whatsoever; done using layer masks. Since then I have redone it many ways, twice since my last final photo; done using Adobe layer blending, mean mode. Id post it but Im afraid everyone will get tired of the redundancy! The FinalFinalfinal photo truly is the best that could be done with what I had to work with. Used a gamma boosted core from my original mask stack, then feathered in the more natural look where the gamma stack started ringing out. Then re-tweaked in camera raw, I might post it in a day or so! Thank again, Jeff
