Details:
This is the old moon with a slender crescent that's filled with earthshine. It was captured at 5:23 am EDT (09:23 UT) on August 20, 2017, from the New Jersey Pinelands. The moon was about 33.1 hours before new, and about 33.4 hours before the maximum partial solar eclipse that will be reached for this location on August 21. At the time, the moon was 2.3% illuminated and 5° altitude. Taken with a Canon 6D digital SLR camera and a Tamron SP 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 zoom lens (on a fixed tripod) set to 300 mm focal length. Exposed 1 second at f/8, ISO 4000.
