Details:
I was fortunate to discover the spectacular Gigantic Jets produced by the remnants of Hurricane Fernanda near the Hawaiian Islands on the morning of July 24th, 2017. Early the following morning, July 25th, the storms fired up again and appear to have produced yet another round of Transient Luminous Events. It is difficult to say whether these are Red Sprites or Gigantic Jets since they are so far to the west of Maunakea. However, most appear to be the red tops of Gigantic Jets to me. Attached is a mosaic of all 11 of the TLE events that I discovered on the morning of July 25th, 2017. The original timelapse video from the Gemini Observatory CloudCams can be seen at... https://www.gemini.edu/.../clou.../bazfoo/North/20170725.mp4. Go to around 2am and look on the left side of the image just above the cloud tops. Please credit as... "Source: Gemini Observatory (North View CloudCam).
