Details:
Here is an animation showing the movement of Sunspot AR2665 caused by rotation of the Sun during the 13 day period it was visible from Earth from 6-18 July 2017. This was derived from the excellent SDO-HMI Daily Sun images accessible from the www.spaceweather.com front page during this time. As this sunspot was large, persistent and close to the equator, it remained visible for half of the 25 day solar rotation period for this zone on the Sun. The following three still images show the sunspot as seen from Mutare through cloud just after sunrise on 8 July, and through a solar filter while the Sun was setting (9 July) and rising (15 July) behind local tree-lined horizons. These were taken using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scene mode with up to x60 zoom magnification.
