Details:
On 07 June I posted a contribution (id_136093) which shows the Sun on 06 June behind a lone, wind-blown, creature shaped, Musasa tree which sits on the break of slope of a hill to the north-west of Murambi and as observed from my house, marks the exact point at which the last direct rays from the Sun at Winter Solstice shine before it disappears below the local horizon. I have now managed to capture a time-lapse sequence of 15 close-up images which shows this year’s solstice sun setting at the foot of the same tree at 16.54 LT on 22 June 2017. (see accompanying animation and still photograph). Although taken a day late, due to cloud cover, the Sun this year set at exactly the same point and within a minute of the afternoon time it did last year (copy of distant view taken at 16.53 LT on 21 June 2016 provided). The photographs were taken using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ 60 camera in sunset scene mode with up to x40 zoom enlargement.
