Details:
The sprites appeared over a mesoscale convective system that moved through northern Germany. I drove to eastern Germany to have a clear sky and a bit more distant view of the storms. As written in science papers about sprites they often appear over 'dying' storm systems which I can confirm once again with my observation. :)
