Sparkling in the east sky near the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge near Des Moines, Iowa, the -4.52 magnitude planet Venus and the crescent moon stood out spectacularly just above the gathering glow of sunrise. This image was captured at 5:44 am CDT, Sunday, April 23, 2017. 1/60 sec. capture at f/3.5, ISO 6400, 18mm focal length. Air temperature was 45 degrees F. Nikon D7200 DSLR camera.
