Details:
The sun is blank, but even a blank sun could make an amazing show under the right conditions. Tonight off San Francisco there was a complex temperature profile, which created multiple inversions and at least one duct. As a result there was a rare sunset mirage. While the upmost sun was getting flatter, but not really getting down, a few lower sun appeared one after another and eventually connected with the upmost sun. Of course there's only one sun. So, under "suns" I mean images of the miraged sun.
The mirage also created some interesting sun's shapes. At one point the sun was rectangular. It is better to watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oceZvN0CADQ to understand how this sunset mirage progressed.
Because of the mirage the sun, or rather a mirage of the sun, set or rather melted in the duct around 5 minutes later than the calculated sunset time.
