Details:
During late afternoon on 19 February the sky to the west of Mutare became almost clear after the effects of Tropical Storm Dineo had moved on. Venus, following maximum brilliance on the 16-17th, shone brightly in the evening sky among some sunset crepuscular rays (second image) and twenty minutes later above a lone Cumulus Cloud behind Christmas Pass (third image) in which some faint lightning glow can just be discerned in the 4 second time exposure. As dusk approached, reflections from lightning in the cloud became clearly visible as in the frame capture (fourth image) and in the lead animation produced from a video taken at 17.58 LT. By this time lighting conditions were so low that an ISO setting of 1600 was required to capture any detail. The camera used was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 in sunset, night scenery and manual modes.
