Details:
While the Kp Index went as high as 4, the resulting display last night, Feb 17, from southern Alberta amounted to no more than diffuse arcs across the north low in the sky. Still, this and a similar display the night before, were the first we had seen any auroras for a while, between clouds and low solar activity. The local chasing community got very excited about the prospects of seeing anything. And those with clear skies were rewarded with a view of a classic auroral arc across the north. But it was diffuse and quiescent. This is a shot with a 12mm full-frame fish-eye lens. 20 seconds at ISO 3200 and f/2.8.
