Details:
The image was obtained at the moment of greatest penumbral obscuration (00:44 UTC) when the magnitude of the eclipse visible to the naked eye was about 0.3, though actually 99% of the Moon`s diameter was within the subtle penumbra. The Moon was then passing South of the axis of Earth`s shadow, close to its edge. By using the photometer of my camera, I could detect the penumbral darkening almost throughout the eclipse and get some numbers to compare with the predicted light distribution. That was certainly a very interesting show in Rio`s sky. Six frames saved from a video filmed with a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera at 85x zoom amplification were stacked with Registax to yield the image shown. No telescopic aid was used.
