Details:
The skies cleared as we were photographing the sunset and we caught the sun setting all the way down to the horizon (a not so common sight in constantly cloudy Malaysia!). As the sun approached and "touched" the horizon, the sun distorted into a shape like a Eutruscan Vase.

Great photos.
I take pictures of the full moonset toward the Pacific each month and see the same changes of shape due to refraction by the marine layers. Lots of deformation of features on the moon, too. Awesome!

What a great example of the Etruscan Vase effect! Nice color palette, too. I wonder if the effect also occurs in the desert?
