Details:
On January 28 we got a break in the clouds at just the right time to catch an outburst of what was a Kp2 aurora, but for us performed in spectacular fashion. For about half an hour it danced overhead and to the north with motion more rapid than I had seen before with large pulses of light racing down curtains stretching across sky. Pinks from nitrogen were obvious to the eye fringing the bottoms f the curtains. It was a jaw-dropping display very difficult to capture – too fast for stills but not quite bright enough for video. But awesome to just stare up and wonder. Lots of ooohs and aaahs from our aurora tour group last night! Like a fireworks show.
