Details:
Within the super fast moving clouds blowing over Grandfather Mountain the first weekend of the new year, Iridescent clouds intermittently appeared. Per Earth & Sky, Those are clouds with rainbow colors and they happen when especially tiny water droplets or small ice crystals individually scatter light. The phenomenon is called cloud iridescence or irisation. The term comes from Iris, the Greek personification of the rainbow.
