Details:
It has been cloudy in Tucson AZ but it cleared just in time for the peak hours of the Quadrantid shower. From 3 different cameras about 14 different meteors were observed between 2 am and 6:30 am. Six of the meteors were reasonably bright including the three shown in these two photographs. Shown is an image from a 20 mm lens and a Nikon D800 with 7 sec exposures and a Nikon D810 with a 8 mm lens in DX mode yielding 12 mm with exposures at 15 sec. The scene shows the foothills of the National Forest north of Tucson. Note 2017 is not an option (yet) in the date pull down so this image labeled for 2016.
