Details:
I was on a Thanksgiving day hike when I looked up and noticed this strange contrail, in the shape of a sine wave. Luckily I had my camera ready with a telephoto lens so I was able to capture it before it faded away. I could tell upper level winds were strong this day because of the presence of lenticular clouds earlier in the morning. But I didn't know it was possible for the winds to have this effect on a contrail. This was seen from the Pryor Mountains in south central Montana.
