Details:
A rare night with barely a cloud in the highlands of Scotland. This lovely flaring fireball was captured with my patrol camera from Lochearnhead, somewhere between 02.50 and 03.05 UT. The green hue points to this being a meteoric body. At first its hard to tell the direction of flight. If it is descending then it seems to fade away then the subsequent flares brighten suddenly then fade gradually. I'm thinking of it as the back-to-front fireball since the direction of flight could be read either way. Taken with a Samyang 8mm fisheye stopped down to f5.6 on a Canon 450D.
