Details:
This afternoon some cloud moved in to temper the searing heat and for a while it looked like there would be no Sunset Sky Show. However just before sundown it started to break up with the Sun appearing for just long enough to project a beautiful crepuscular ray shadow skywards (first image). With so much cloud about I wondered what the chances would be of seeing Venus, Saturn and the Crescent Moon later on. Fortunately patience was rewarded and after thirty five minutes there was a brief interval during which all three could be seen at the same time (second image) and a close-up of the Crescent Moon could be obtained before it disappeared into cloud again (third image). The photographs were taken using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 camera using sunset and then night scenery settings.
