At 20:42 UT, the chance that I might capture the Sun setting, considering all the obstacles and clouds in the way (first photo), looked indeed very slim. However, to my surprise, only 3 minutes later, there it was, the Sun`s disc, shining through a red blanket of clouds (second photo). Amazingly, sunlight had found its way through cloud layers of lower density and then along a narrow unobstructed path across the block directly to my camera and in such a way that I could monitor the Sun down to only 1 degree altitude. Then, when I thought the colorful sunset show was about to end, a beautiful set of prominent pink crepuscular rays added to the delightful evening display (last photo, taken at 21:09 UT). That was indeed an unexpected and most welcomed treat!
