Details:
Had finished the the first Lights Over Lapland Autumn Aurora tour and had a night off so thought I'd do a night hike to the amazing lake of Trollsjön close to the Norwegian border. 12km hike with 300m of ascent -5C but much easier before the snow comes. We had a great cloud inversion and hoar frosted trees. The aurora was very strong on the way up and we still had some great lights when we got to the famous face shaped rock in the head of the Kärkevagge valley. It's quite hard to describe how good it felt in that little hidden valley at 815 meters altitude 200 km north of the arctic circle! The auroras where that bright on the way up the exposure time was under a second!
