Details:
A combination of smoke haze and thin cloud around Mutare continues to have surreal effects on the setting Sun. This evening while still a short distance above the summit of Murahwa Mountain the Sun passed through a thin band of nebulous cloud which made it look like a young yellow star in a protoplanetary disc (first close-up image). Just five minutes later its color had faded to red as it started to disappear behind the mountain (second close-up). The last two distant views taken shortly before and after show the Sun about to descend into the cloud band and then set. The photographs were taken using a hand-held Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 compact camera in sunset scenery mode.
