Details:
The Aurora last night above the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ilulissat Icefjord in Greenland was magnificent!
We climbed up some large rocks with a great vantage point over the icebergs that are stacked at the end of the fjord while waiting to met sufficiently to pass the threshold at the end of the fjord and be released into the sea. Not long after watching the sunset from there, the Aurora appeared in the sky, when it was still bright blue! That must have been some of the earliest display that I have ever seen. There was also frequently a blue layer on top of the Aurora, also a rare sight!
With the moon then above the icebergs, the show was complete.
Greenland and Ilulissat are such special places, and I cannot wait to explore all this further!
