Details:
The first two images show the waxing crescent Moon and Venus above a group of Altocumulus clouds. The formations are exhibited at higher zoom magnification in the third image, where wave- or stair-like patterns (undulatus clouds) and also smooth stratified layers (possibly associated to lenticular clouds) can be seen. In fact, sawtooth waves, indicative of Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities, can also be clearly identified on the lower left of the second image. Jupiter has now become a difficult target due to its proximity to the Sun. It is only seen in the last image (lower center, below Venus and the cloud, right above the light on the roof of the building). Details: Photos taken with a Canon PowerShot SX60 HS camera in Manual Mode, 5 x (F4.0-4.5, ISO 800, 1/50-1 s) between 21:00-21:27 UT.
