Details:
Saturday night, 6th August, I was at Coronet Peak skifield, Queenstown, New Zealand, photographing the view, when I noticed a faint silvery glow behind the distant mountains. I wondered what it was, was it light glow from Queenstown? Then silvery beams of light began to appear, and in a photo colours showed it was an aurora, the first aurora I have seen. The beams changed in a time scale of minutes, changing location, number, width and intensity, always silver except maybe briefly, but colours visible in photos. The action occurred between 9.30pm and 11pm, most photos around 10pm, 30sec, f3.5, iso 2000, 50mm, Fujifilm XM-1
