After a beautiful, clear night doing timelapse astrophotography of the Perseids meteor shower from a wheat field near Condon in rural north-central Oregon, I woke up after a brief nap just before sunrise to see what looked like the sun coming up from the middle of a wheat field. The thin stalks of wheat in front of the sun disappeared in it's brightness but the tops were still visible, making it look like the sun was actually coming up through the field. The light haze that had settled in before dawn turned the sky bright orange and it looked like it was on fire. The effect only lasted a minute but was quite the wake-up call after a long night, literally, in the field.
Taken with an Olympus EM-5, 1/800 second, F/9, ISO 200, @ 150mm
