Details:
It was by far the best Perseid meteor shower I have observed, the rates were certainly elevated. My friend and myself spotted 117 between 01:00 UT and 02:00UT but we saw much more than that during the first part of our session (100+)where we were mainly concentrating on getting an image. There were several mini outbursts of multiple meteors within seconds of each other. Despite the high activity we only managed to get 1 image each but we were happy with that, and as dew was starting to become a problem we finished with the photography and settled down for a proper count. There were several fireballs. To me it seemed as if there were more of those between midnight and 2am local time (UT+1) several left persistent trails. After my friend dropped me back home I went out for another hour but the rates were much lower as to be expected as I was now in a urban location and the sky was beginning to brighten in the east. I saw a further 29 from 02:52UT until 03:48UT I did not do the full hour as the sky was now getting to bright, plus some thin cloud had rolled in, the last meteor I saw was a really nice one to end on, it must have been a pretty bright fireball considering I saw it fairly low in east where the sky was rather light, plus looking right over the town centre, and through a layer of thin cloud! Canon 70D 64s exposure ISO 1000 F/3.5
