Details:
A beautiful sight this morning, July 29, as the waning crescent Moon appeared in a very close conjunction below the star Aldebaran in the deep blue twilight sky. Here in Alberta we were perfectly positioned in longitude to catch the conjunction high in the sky but before the dawn got too bright. Seeing it against the deep blue sky was perfect. Technical: This is through the 130mm refractor telescope tracking at the lunar rate, and is a stack of 7 exposures from 2 seconds to 1/125 second to capture the huge range in brightness from the dim Earthshine and stars, to the bright sunlit crescent, all blended with luminosity masks, not HDR.
