Details:
Also known as the Western Veil Nebula, this nebula is the remnant of an exploding star that died about 10,000 years ago. It's about 1400 light years away and 35 light years in length. I love the intense and contrasting blue and red colors, generated by oxygen and hydrogen gases respectively. Special narrow band filters were used to capture this light and cut through the light pollution. Total of 6 hours exposure over 2 nights using a TeleVue NP127 telescope and a QSI camera. Processed with MaximDL, Startools and Lightroom software.
