Details:
Good seeing allowed me today to image and observe the giant spot 2546 using a homemade 8 inch Newtonian. At 100x the view was fantastic through the eyepiece, with lots of details visible on this large dark spot. This comparison view was made from images acquired in the focal plane of the Newtonian (a two panel mosaic),and using a 3x Barlow lens. Both with the ASI 174MM camera and of course a front solar filter, plus a Red filter.
