Details:
Got it! It took a chase to the nearest reliable clear skies a day's drive from home to the west, but it was worth it. Here's the Transit of Mercury in 3 stages from 1) mid-transit, 2) halfway from mid to egress, and 3) egress (or third contact). From my location in Kamloops, BC, the Sun rose at 5:25 a.m. PDT with the transit well underway, then low clouds prevented good views and shots until about 7 am PDT. I shot through a 130mm refractor plus with a 2X Barlow for an effective focal length of 1560mm, taking shots every 30 seconds for an eventual composite still and time-lapse sequence. Convective clouds did cover the Sun for a few minutes off and on during the last half hour just before noon but cleared to reveal egress, and 3rd and 4th contacts, which I shot with video.
