Details:
It was a clear, sunny day, which made photographing Mercury and the Sun much easier than if it was overcast. I don't have a telescope, so I designed and fabricated a custom solar filter for my Canon 500mm f/4, and used the lens and a 1.4x extender on my 7D MkII. I thought it was interesting that I picked up several sunspots in addition to Mercury.
