Details:
During the early morning hours of Mother's Day, the northern lights literally exploded across the sky. For several brief periods of time we had 360 degree views of aurora. A rare event in Montana! This is a single exposure photo looking south east. Because the lights danced even behind us, I took advantage of that fact and took a rare photo of the northern lights pulsating into the milky way with a wide angle lens. It almost looked like they were trying to outdo each other for our attention. 20 sec exposure at ISO 2,500 with a very wide angle lens.
