Brazil will be in the front row to watch the whole transit of Mercury tomorrow. This afternoon, as I was filming the Sun in preparation for tomorrow`s rare event, a plane just happened to transit it, like Mercury will be doing tomorrow. These photos show the Sun shortly before setting upon Rio`s West-northwestern horizon in a sky mostly clouded, less than 16 hours before Mercury starts its cruise in front of our vital star. A Sony Cyber-Shot HX300 camera with a filter for solar observation was used for the shots, taken between 18:34 and 19:51 UT.
