Details:
A 310 metre sized rock, NEO 2016 FY3 was due to whizz our home planet on 25th April, passing within a mere 6.4 LD. Wow, this is quite a large rock for such a close pass, so I set up hoping that the weather conditions would let me record this event. Patchy cloud was forecast for the evening.
After much leap frogging ahead to wait for 2016 FY3 to enter the field of view, I found a sucker hole and managed to grab a 60 sec exposure centred on RA: 17h 42m, Dec: -12° 39' before the wispy clouds rolled in again.
The Sky X Pro reported the object at mag 14.53. This image trail was captured at 01:48am AEST (UT+10) 25th April 2015.
Tak Mewlon 180 F12, Tak x0.8 Reducer/Flattener, Atik 414EX camera.
Cheers
Dennis
