Details:
These photos were taken with a Canon Powershot SX60 HS camera at 21:19-21:25 UT. They show the 16.7% waxing crescent of the Moon passing through the Hyades star cluster when the Moon and Aldebaran were 1.5° apart. At the time the pair set, that distance had lowered to 0.9°. The entire V-shaped pattern of the cluster is seen with the Moon near its center in the first and third photos. Besides the lunar crescent, the second photo shows the leg of the "V" where the red giant Aldebaran is seen. Finally, the last photo, taken at lower zoom, shows the pair amidst the fading colors of dusk.
