Details:
The SKY Club from Colorado Mountain College got an emerald surprise while watching the sun set from atop Mauna Kea on April 7. Several students visually witnessed the green flash while I was photographing it. This rapid-fire trio of images was taken at 6:41pm Hawaii time using a Nikkor 300mm lens at f22 and a Nikon D700 camera set at ISO 200 and using an exposure of 1/5000 second. The intensity of the blue-green flash caught everyone by surprise.
