Details:
Phillippe Tosi's shot inspired me to image the earth sized spots emergence on the eastern limb about 4 PM CDT this afternoon. It appeared in hydrogen alpha to have a tiny linear prominence popping right out of it! First two shots with Lunt 60, B1200 filter, 32mm Plossl, Canon SX150, IS0 800, 12x, 1/1000". Seeing was poor, so at times the spot appeared almost as a hole on the solar limb. Last two shots with Orion Eon 72, Lunt B1200 CaK filter, same camera and eyepiece, 4x for third shot at 1/60", last shot at 12X for 1/25".

It has officially been designated AR 2529 now. Going to get my PSC students to use it to study solar rotation in AST 1002 lab 9 as it moves across the disk in next two weeks. Hope it lasts that long!
