An AURORA BREATHING DRAGON stretches its wings above Chena Hot Springs in the Interior of Alaska on March 22, 2016 around 1 am. This was yet another unbelievable March northern lights display. A few nights ago I was in lone wolf mode while shooting “Mind-Blowing Auroras” but on this moonlit evening I was howling with a large, multinational pack of fellow aurora enthusiasts. I was impressed with the pitch, harmony and synchronized high notes (!) reached during peak moments up at the “Aurorium” hut….and it was vividly clear that watching the auroras transcends cultural boundaries. It was a blast of fresh air and even the local dragon (sculpture) was puffing cool breathes of green light toward the moon.
